The
DreamLens CRT
The
DreamLens or Corneal Refractive Therapy or 'CRT' is also called Paragon CRT,
Gentle Molding (GCM), and Ortho-K.
These special contact lenses are fitted to normalize the eye's surface
to temporarily correct vision while you sleep...
to give you clear vision the next day after removing them in the morning.
FYI: This can
be used for people with up to -6.00D needs and moderate astigmatism. It can
be fit for people who need bifocals too.
FDA Approved
The FDA
approved CRT in 2002, and after extensive research, showed it to be safe
and effective. It's a great option for people
with dry eyes or those unable to wear contact lenses in the past.
It's a great alternative for people who wanted LASIK, but
scared about eye surgery!
It's perfect for children (7
years old+), teens and adults who find eyeglasses unattractive, contact
lenses a hassle,
or active people who love to play sports. Studies show it may even help slow
vision changes--especially for children
whose prescriptions keep getting weaker.
FYI:
Dr. Kurtin was one of the first in DFW to receive required certification
in 2002, per the FDA, to prescibe CRT. The FDA
cautions that only certified doctors are authorized to fit these lenses-- however,
some doctors fit 'off-label' lenses not
approved by the FDA--due to cost-- potentially comprimising eye health.
Affordable
Initial fees for CRT, include eye health and vision tests,
corneal
topography, fitting
a pair of CRT lenses, instructions
on use and follow up care.
The average cost is about $800 per eye. However, these fees no longer apply
after the inital fit.
Enjoy 0 % interest financing for up to 18 months
if qualified. Vision insurance will sometimes cover part of cost too.
FYI: A free consultation is offered after your eye exam.
Just moved here? Need
new CRT lenses? We can help.
Schedule an eye exam and we'll pick up where your last doctor
left off, and let us help keep you seeing well.
Ongoing
research: Vitamin 'B' drops
Once your
vision is acceptable with CRT, these eye drops would then be applied
to keep vision from changing, and CRT lenses
would not be needed. The FDA has centers studying the use of these 'B' Vitamin
drops called Riboflavin. Someday this truly may be
a non-surgical option to correct eyesight.
